南山歸 廬 남산귀폐려
不才名主棄 부재명주기
多病故人疏 다병고인소
白髮催年老 백발최년노

永懷愁不寐 영회수불매

세모에 남산으로 돌아와    맹호연 (689-740)

조정에 글 올릴 일 없어
남산 오두막집에 돌아 왔네.
재주 없으니 밝은 임금은 버리고
병이 많으니 찾아주는 친구 드물다.
백발은 늙어감을 재촉하고
새 봄 기운은 세밑에 다가온다.
오랜 시름으로 잠 못이루는데
소나무의 달이 창가에 헛되이 비쳐드네.

Returning to the South Mountain at the Year's End    Meng Haoran (689-740)

No more petitions will I submit at the north palace gate,
I return to my humble hut in the South Mountain.
Being talentless, a wise ruler bears me not in mind,
Being sickly, my old friends leave me alone and behind.
My white hairs hasten my decline,
The new spring is about to end New Years's Eve.
I can't fall asleep with agony and sorrow,
On the pine-shadowed moonlight in my window hollow.
